About The British Comedy Guide

Union Jack Icon Welcome to The British Comedy Guide, a vast online reference website for fans of British comedy. Over 150,000 comedy fans a month visit this website to find out all about British comedy.

On the BCG you'll find detailed guides to over 600 British TV and radio comedy shows: featuring synopsis details, cast & crew lists, episode guides, character profiles, videos, press clippings and more. We also provide daily TV and radio listings, a news service, a DVD catalogue, email newsletters, forums, a podcast directory, run competitions, offer advice & insight for comedy writers, and do all sorts of other things we think will be useful to British comedy fans. And it's all free!

The ultimate aim of this website is to provide a guide to every British TV and radio comedy that has ever been made! However, as there are over 4,000 comedies listed in our master list, and together these have generated hundreds upon thousands of hours of comedy over the last 100 years... it's going to take us a little while to complete the task. So our apologies if you can't find what you're looking for on our website just yet... but we will get there eventually!

One thing we are proud to say is we have 100% complete coverage of all current TV and radio comedy - we track and record every single new episode! Do check out our schedule and our coming soon section to get a flavour of what we're up to.

Background

Not many people realise this, but The British Comedy Guide is actually a not-for-profit website run as a 'hobby'! All the work on this website is carried out by comedy fans in their spare time for fun. If you'd like to get involved, do please find out more about contributing.

The British Comedy Guide started life in 2003 as a small website called The British Sitcom Guide - which back then was just a few brief pages about Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and a few other sitcoms. However, over the years thanks to help from many contributors, it has grown into the beast you see before you now.

The website was founded by comedy geek Mark, who still runs the website today (he's Chief Editor). Aaron also plays a big role. He developed and runs the message board and also looks after some of the areas of the website, like the DVD database.

Thank you for visiting The British Comedy Guide, we hope you find our site useful and interesting and will come back as we continue to add new features (we've got lots of exciting plans)!
