'8 Out Of 10 Cats' Related Trivia

8 Out of 10 Cats shares many of its panellists, crew and writers with fellow panel show Would I Lie To You?. This is because both shows are made by the Endemol subsiduary Zeppotron.

8 Out Of 10 Cats curious title is derived from a well-known advertising tagline for Whiskas cat food which claimed that "8 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas".

Episode six of the first series was recorded on the day of the 2005 London Terrorist Bombings. For obvious reasons producers thought it un-wise to make the episode topical (a terrorist atrocity is hardly a goldmine for gags) and so the first topical round was removed and replaced with a round of What's The Poll. This change was not explained on screen so that subsequent repeats of the episode did not look out-of-place.

The production team had a second issue, in that most of the audience could not make it to the recording because of the lack of transport options. However, as filming on Mock the Week was cancelled that night, its audience helped fill the gaps.
