We meet the holiday makers who have just arrived at the Benidorm resort. With dysfunctional families, middle-aged swingers and bickering couples it's sure to be a holiday they'll never forget.
It's changeover day at the all-inclusive Solana resort. Just arrived are: the Garvey family which consists of Mick, Janice and their children Chantelle (who refuses to remove her coat despite the heat), eight year old Michael and chain-smoking, sun-obsessed, foul-mouthed grandma Madge.
Also checking in are middle class Kate and her anxious husband Martin who just want to make the best of things, although it's hard when they have to wait all day for their room and then discover that they are overlooking the wheelie bins.
Also spending time at the resort are gay couple Troy and Gavin and reigning Lancashire pub quiz champion The Oracle and his doting Mum (though he prefers to call her his P.A.).
Donald and Jacqueline, who have been coming to the hotel for years, are happy to give helpful advice to the newcomers about which apartments have toilets that don't flush and to hint at how broad minded they are... The Oracle is deeply shocked when Donald lets him know just how 'accommodating' Jacqueline can be!
Everyone comes together for dinner and an evening of quality entertainment and karaoke at Neptune's bar. Telle, who is still wearing her coat, brings the evening to a premature close when she collapses in the middle of a song on the karaoke stage. To cool Telle down, the Garvey family help to remove her coat only to reveal that she is heavily pregnant!
